Abstract
528,292. Control of D.C. motors; interlocked controllers. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., CROFT, E. H., and TURRALL, J. C. May 3, 1939, No. 13216. [Class 38 (iii)] Non-regenerative braking.-The driving motor 1 of a vehicle is braked while the vehicle coasts down a gradient by a circuit set up by a controller BS which may assume one of three positions giving different degrees of braking, and the switch BS is locked from movement by a lock operated with a switch 30. Thus the switch- BS may be operated only when the lock is released and in this position the switch 30 opens a contactor 29 in the braking circuit. Thus no switching is effected on the controller BS. The controller BS may be operated by a handle removed from a reverser 6 in its off position and capable of operating the lock. The reversing of the series field for braking is checked on the controller BS, but in a modification the normal reverser has an additonal position for reversing the connections, in which position the handle is removable. The lock for switch BS may have its own key.
