Abstract
527,790. Wind musical instruments. CHICAGO MUSICAL INSTRUMENT CO. April 20, 1939, No. 11902. Convention date, Sept. 26, 1938. [Class 88 (ii)] A musical instrument comprises a hollow body closed at one end and having a mouthpiece slidably mounted in the other for varying the length of the body to vary the pitch of the notes produced by fingering apertures in the body. The mouthpiece has a horizontal slot 17 with its upper surface level with a lip 19, and the rear end 16 of the mouthpiece is cylindrical and a sliding fit in the body. Holes 20-27, hole 23 not being shown in Fig. 2, enable a scale of nine notes to be played, raised edges 28 being formed around each hole. In addition two thin places 29, 30, of larger area than the holes and also surrounded by edges 28, enable two additional higher notes to be played after breaking away the thin places. The instrument is preferably made of plastic material moulded in a steel die to ensure accuracy of shape.
