Abstract
526,588. Dyes. I.G. FARBENINDUSTRIE AKT.-GES. March 21, 1939, No. 8963. Convention date, March 31, 1938. [Class 2 (iii)] Black-blue lacquer dyestuffs are manufactured by reacting the complex chromium compound of the azo dyestuff from diazotized 4:6-dinitro-2-amino-1-hydroxybenzene and 2- hydroxynaphthalene-4-sulphonic acid with aliphatic amines containing at least eight carbon atoms, e.g. diisoamylamine, stearylamine, dimethyloctodecylamine, dimethyl-palm-kernelfat-amine, diethyloctodecenylamine, or mixtures thereof. The reaction may be effected in aqueous solution with a salt of the base, e.g. the formate or acetate, or the free dyestuff acid may be reacted with the free bases in an organic solvent, e.g. alcohol. The products are suitable for the preparation of bluish-black cellulose ester or alkyd resin lacquers. In an example, the said chromium compound is dissolved in water and heated with an acetic acid solution of dimethyl-palm-kernel-fat-amine (prepared by methylation of the amine obtained from palm kernel fatty acids).
