Abstract
526,522. Cranes carried by scaffolding. TRIGGS, W. W. (Safway Steel Scaffolds Co., of America). March 18, 1939, No. 8733. [Class 78 (iv)] The tubular or solid crane post 26 fits into the upper end of the scaffold tube 15 and slues therein. An .upper fixed guide sleeve 37 is connected by a pair of diverging brace rods 35 to a horizontal angle-iron 42 which is connected bv hooked bolts to a scaffold member 16. A further brace 45 connects the member 42 to the lowest guide sleeve. The crane post is formed with a goose-neck braced at 31 and is fitted with a pulley 30 over which the load-rope passes to a guide sleeve in the circular mounting 75 and thence to a winch 56 mounted on the brace rods 35. The intermediate brace bars Y, connecting the members 35 to a third sleeve on the post, may be utilized to support a motor when the winch is driven by power instead of by the handle 55. Guard-rails 19 for the scaffold platform fit into the upper ends of the scaffold tubes and have a sleeved connection to the crane post. The winch carries a brake drum at one end and ratchet retaining mechanism at the other end.
