Abstract
523,905. Coating surfaces. INTERNATIONAL LATEX PROCESSES, Ltd. Jan. 17, 1939, No. 1557. Convention date, Feb. 1, 1938. [Class 95] A method of maintaining unaffected a label or identifying emblem on the surface of an article, particularly a rubber article, whilst subjecting the article to coating, comprises depositing a removable protective film of rubber, from a latex composition, on the said label, and removing said film after coating has been effected. The removable protective film of rubber is preferably applied to the face of the label before the latter is applied to the article. To facilitate subsequent removal of the latex film, the label may be coated with a coagulant, such as an acetic acid-alcohol mixture, or with a lubricant such as talc, before applying the latex, and the film may be vulcanized. The label itself may be of rubber, and may be coloured. Figs. 5 and 6 show a label 10, attached to an article 13, and covered with a protective latex film 12, the whole being then coated with paint or varnish 14, while Figs. 7 and 8 illustrate the subsequent removal of the film 12, leaving the label uncoated.
