[Class 132 (ii)] [Also in Group XVIII] Relates to apparatus for playing a game simulating football and of the type comprising a table having confining walls g, Fig. 2, goals at the ends, manually rotatable, and slidable rods i extending across and above the table and ball-striking members m mounted on the rods. According to the invention a compartment f is provided below the table top in which the balls collect after passing through the goals, until a pivoted shutter p controlled by coin-freed mechanism is released. The confining walls at opposite sides of the table consist of rails carried upon vertical rods h. The playing surface rises slightly towards the ends and sides to prevent the ball resting in inaccessible positions. Coil springs j return the rods after sliding movement. The balls may be released from the shutter p by placing two pennies in slots t, Fig. 5, in a plunger u and pressing in the plunger. Over-size coins will not enter the slots, and under-size coins fall through to a return coin slot w, Fig. 2. Coins of correct size pass over a projection x, Fig. 8, when the plunger u is pressed in,. and 'drop down a coin slot 13. The inward movement of the plunger causes a fork 15 thereon to raise the shutter p and allow the balls to pass to a trough q. A pin 20 also operates a counter 28. If the plunger u is pressed in without first inserting the coins, two spring-pressed catches 21, Fig. 5, enter the slots t and prevent an effective movement of the plunger to liberate the balls.
