[Class 126] A radiant for a gas or like fire is of tubular form and encloses a combustion chamber the perimeter of which is formed by an assemblage of rods, bars or tubes of refractory material arranged vertically or horizontally and held in metal supports so as to be spaced slightly apart or in contact for a part of the perimeter. The radiant may be used in water heaters. The Figure shows one form of radiant comprising tubes 2 supported in channel members 5 and enclosing a combustion chamber arranged above a burner (not shown). The radiant may be circular, semi-circular, triangular, rectangular or other shape in cross section. The combustion chamber may be provided with a refractory central core.
