523,632. Wall foundations or footings. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP BETON-EN AANNEMINGSBEDRIJF SYSTEEM NO-WOOD, and VELDE, D. VAN DER. Jan. 11, 1939, No. 940. [Classes 20 (ii) and 20 (iv)] A method of making concrete foundations consists in arranging a plurality of pre-formed bridge-pieces 2 in parallel relation transversely across the bottom of the foundation trench, and supporting two parallel series of slabs or sheets 4 placed on edge in upwardly-facing grooves 3 in the bridge-pieces so as to form an open-topped permanent casing for the subsequent reception of concrete. The bridge-piece shown.in Fig. 1 is of inverted-U-cross-section and is positioned on the head of a pile 1 disposed in the foundation trench. The legs of the bridge-piece are so shaped as to provide the upwardly-facing grooves 3 in which the slabs 4 are placed. After positioning the slabs, they are interconnected by anchors 6 hooking into eyes 5 which are provided on the inner faces of the slabs 4 and may be integral with the reinforcement of the slabs. The concrete cast in the casing is reinforced by a reinforcement- 8 which is supported in position from the anchors 6. In a modification, the basepiece is in the form of a flat member 9, Fig. 3, which is placed directly on the bottom of the trench, without the provision of piles, and is formed with grooves 10 for the reception of the slabs 11. These slabs are supported by anchors 12 which hook into eyes provided in the basepieces and slabs.
