Abstract

523,489. Clothes pegs. WILLBER, C. Jan. 7, 1939, No. 580. [Class 44] A clothes peg of pivoted jaw type is provided with a spring hook or clip to grip the line independent of the grip on the clothes, formed from flat spring steel strip secured to one limb of the peg and projecting above the handle. Fig. 1 shows a peg having wood jaws 1 connected by spiral wire spring 2, a metal strip 5 being secured to one handle 3 by nails, screws, or rivets 4 and bent to provide a clip hook 6. The hook may be oppositely disposed to lie on the central line of the peg. A hook similar to that shown may be provided on each handle 3. In a modification two strips are provided, one on each handle, and curved to provide opposed recesses, the line being gripped between the two strips. The strips may diverge and have a series of recesses to fit lines of different diameters.
