Convention date, Feb. 24, [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (iii)] In engines using dust or other solid fuel, although liquid fuel may be used, a combustion chamber 1 is separated from the cylinder space by a passage provided with helical grooves 5 for producing turbulence. The annular cylinder space 11 is formed partly in the piston and partly in the cylinder head and a projection on the piston may enter the passage 4 at the end of the compression stroke.
