Abstract
521,594. Valves. JAMESON, J. L. Nov. 16, 1938, No. 33360. [Class 7 (vi)] Inlet at 10 and exhaust at 9 are controlled by valves 14, 14<1> respectively sliding in pockets 13, 13<1> closed to avoid gas leakage, except for the provision of the ports and of openings 20, 20<1>, through which project lugs 19, 19<1> on the valves engaging lugs 21, 211 on actuating-rods 22, 221 connected to cranks or eccentrics 24, 24<1>. Water-cooling chambers 3 may be provided between the valves and the cylinder, and if desired also outside the valves at 27, 27'. The valves are preferably inclined ' as shown. Cover plates 28, 28<1> are formed with ribs 29, 29<1> bearing on the rods 22, 22<1>. The valves are especially applicable to two-stroke engines as described in Specification 521,595.
