521,042. Pasteurizing liquids. ALUMINIUM PLANT & VESSEL CO., Ltd., and SELIGMAN, R. Nov. 9, 1938, No. 32501. [Class 49] [Also in Group XIII] Liquid is pasteurized by the direct introduction of steam by an injector which also draws the liquid through a heat exchanger in which it is preheated by indirect contact with the pasteurized liquid. Thus, the liquid may be drawn from a tank a<SP>1</SP> through a plate &c. heat exchanger g by a steam-injector d<SP>1</SP> which discharges into a U-tube n forming a holding chamber for the pasteurized liquid. The outlet m of the tube is provided with a thermometer c<SP>1</SP> and connected to the heat exchanger through which the treated liquid passes in counterflow to the liquid from the tank.
