Abstract
518,415. Discharging glass from glass melting furnaces. PILKINGTON BROS., Ltd., and GASKELL, J. Aug. 24, 1938, No. 24883. [Class 51 (ii)] A glass tank is provided with a discharge spout 9 pivoted at 8 near its outlet so that the rear end of the bottom 10 of the spout can be adjusted in height below the glass level or raised above the glass level to control the rate of flow or stop the flow of glass to rolls 11. The' back end of the spout has a cylindrical surface 12 which engages with a corresponding surface on the channel piece 4. The spout 9 and channel piece 4 are mounted in an adjustable frame 5.
