Abstract
517,924. Polarizing spectacles. ZEISS IKON AKT.-GES. Aug. 9, 1938, No. 23498. Convention date, Aug. 11, 1937. [Class 97 (i)] Polarizing spectacles for dazzle protection purposes or for viewing stereoscopic pictures are manufactured as a whole from polarizing material. As shown, the spectacles are cut, stamped &c. from a foil 1, and are afterwards bent by heating, pressing, &c. at the places 5. The frame may 'be stiffened by rib-shaped impressions or inserted metal wires. For spectacles for dazzle protection, the transmission direction 2 of the foil is constant, and at 45 degrees to the direction in which the frame extends; for spectacles for viewing stereoscopic pictures, the transmission direction of the foil varies in different parts, for example as described in Specification 476,023, so that the transmission directions of the two filters may be perpendicular to one another. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also a frame 6, Fig. 2 (Cancelled) of paper, paperboard, celluloid &c. having foils 8 cemented or otherwise secured thereto, the transmission directions being perpendicular to one another. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
