Abstract
517,450. Lighting fittings. HIRSCH, E. July 28, 1938, No. 22498. [Class 75 (ii)] An electric lamp fitting comprises upper and lower glass bells, A, B preferably of parabolic cross-section and an intermediate glass member C of substantially V- or U-shaped cross-section detachably secured together coaxially by U-sectioned rings F so that any one of the three elements A, B, C may be replaced by another of the same size and configuration but of different illuminating characteristics. Upper and lower bells for example may be used having mirrored opal, glassenamelled or matt surfaces while the intermediate member may have one half of its surface provided with a specular lining S or transparent while the other half surface is opal or matt. The elements have the same diameter d at their grooved contacting surfaces so that the element C can be inverted. The bulb D may be arranged at the focus of the upper or lower bell or in an intermediate position. The provisional. Specification states that the lamp fitting may comprise upper and lower elements only.
