[Class 141] In men's pants and drawers a portion of fabric possessing elasticity in a vertical direction is situated in the back at or near the waist, and is of substantial depth at the centre back and of progressively reduced depth towards the sides or hips. As shown, a pair of pants of knitted fabric with the usual fly opening and non-elastic front 12 and tapes 14 for accommodating the front brace fasteners for suspending the wearer's trousers has a piece of knitted fabric 15 capable of elasticity in a vertical direction, which has a wide U-shaped central portion and tapers into substantially parallel portions 18 towards the hips, let into the back below the waistline. A tape 19 is provided for the back brace fasteners. The front portion may be elastic in a vertical or horizontal direction and the back portion may possess some degree of horizontal elasticity. The invention is also applicable to self-supporting pants or drawers.
