Abstract
516,355. Sliding-clasp fastenings. CORNER, G. H. C., and LIGHTNING FASTENERS, Ltd. June 20, 1938, No. 18310. [Class 44] Sliding-clasp fasteners having non-metallic fastener members small in dimension on the visible side of the fastener are formed by securing a series of fastener members, of larger dimensions than required, in correct spacing on a mounting tape and then by a cutting operation removing material from the members so that the dimensions are smaller on one side of the tape. A series of fastener members 1 have a preliminary attachment to a tape 2 effected by a capillary adhesive solvent action in the tape and are then passed beneath a cutter wheel 4 whereby the front sides of the members are reduced to the small convex form shown in Fig. 6. The fastener stringer is'then subjected to an adhesive solvent action as described in Specification 444,405, for the final securing action. The slider used with such a fastener has only a small front plate which may be flat or have a grooving corresponding to the frontal shape 6 of the fastener members.
