Abstract

516,012. Street &c. lamps. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., MAXTED R.; and BERTRAM, J. June 17, 1938, No. 18072. [Classes 75 (ii) and 75 (iv)] Reflectors 3 above a source of light 1 and reflectors 4 at the sides thereof and forming part of side reflectors 5, 4. 6, are so arranged that upward rays are directed by the former on to the latter, and from the latter redirected in an angular beam beneath the source preferably between 66 and 77 degreees to the vertical. Preferably the reflectors 4 are plane, and the reflectors 5, 6 curved, the latter giving a cut-off of light at 75 degrees to the vertical.
