514,896. Welding. electric condensers &c. BOSCH GES., R., (formerly BOSCH AKT.-GES., R.). May 18, 1938, No. 14779. Convention date, May 18, 1937. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] One or more thin sheet metal foils or laminae are spot welded to a metal carrier by electrodes, one at least of which is in direct contact with both the foil and the carrier so as to avoid burning of the foils. In spot welding a number of brass laminae b, 0.1 mm. thick, to a copper sheet a, 1 mm. thick, by welding electrodes c, e, the laminae are placed stepwise on the copper sheet and the upper electrode c brought into contact at d with the copper sheet, the rest of the end of the electrode engaging the laminae. The electrode is rounded between these surfaces. In welding the edges of the aluminium foil coatings f of a wound cartridge condenser to the central sheet copper electrode g thereof and also to the connecting wire i, both welding electrodes h are shaped so as to engage directly both the copper electrode g and also the foils. The electrodes h press the copper electrode flat before welding it to the foils and the wire i.
