[Class 81 (ii)] A dental impression tray 10 for the lower jaw is U-shaped in cross-section comprising an inner rim 15 and an outer rim 16. The inner rim has a narrow portion 17 at the front, and from this part the rim increases in depth abruptly to a location 18 at each side and thence gradually curves upwards to a shallow point 20 slightly in advance of the middle part of the rim. It then increases slightly in depth to location 201 after which the rim is rounded rearwardly and upwardly at point 21. The outer rim is flared outwardly with no variation in depth of the wall 23 to a point 24 at about the middle of the outer rim after which it gradually decreases in depth as shown at 25 and vanishes at point 26 where it meets the inner rim. The front portion of the outer rim is rounded up to near point 25 from which it gradually approaches the horizontal. A handle 12 is provided on the front end of the tray, and the outer rim has a notch 22 to accommodate the labial frenum. The tray is stated to anatomically follow all the available bony jaw structure and non-muscular tissue, giving an impression of the maximum non-muscular denture seating area. In a modification the tray is built up of telescopically arranged segments bolted together conforming to the shape described, and the handle is bolted on to one of the segments.
