Abstract

513,282. Diaphragms. CACKETT, F. W. (Siemens & Halske Akt.-Ges). April 6, 1938, No. 10540. [Class 40 (iv)] A diaphragm, particularly for a moving- coil loudspeaker, is formed by applying fibrous material to the whole or to a part of a base of textile fabric which forms part of the diaphragm. As shown in Fig 1, a layer 3 of fibrous material is formed on a base 2 of gauze net having a corrugated peripheral portion 4 to which fibrous material is not applied and which forms a flexible support for the diaphragm. A cylindrical extension 5 of the layer 3 forms a support for the voice-coil. In a modification, Fig 3 (not shown), the base of textile fabric is of annular form and extends solely over the peripheral portion of the diaphragm. The fibrous material may be applied by moulding, casting, spraying or by suction in conjunction with a porous conical former.
