Abstract

513,258. Airscrews. DORNIER - WERKE GES., and DORNIER, C. March 3, 1938, No. 6695. Convention date, April 2, 1937. [Class 114] A wooden variable pitch airscrew blade which is formed of two wooden shells 1 and 2 is provided with a single or built up re-inforcing metal tongue 7 of H-cross section which tapers longitudinally and is supported against projections 5 and 6 on the shell and connected therewith by bolts 3. The part of the tongue member which projects beyond the blade is formed as a cylindrical member 8 for mounting in propeller hub bosses. An outer sheathing surface 4 is provided. In an alternative form the H member is made up of two co-operating halves and the edges of the.flanges may be further bent to form lateral tongues in attachment to the wooden shell.
