Abstract
512,168. Screw sockets. WATT, G., and ROBERTS, A. CROMPTON-. April 22, 1938, No. 12110. [Class 89 (i)] In connection with cement or concrete construction, a securing member for supporting articles, comprises as shown in Fig. 1 a tube or the like closed at 11 and open only at an end 13 in which is a removable closure such as a grub screw. Spikes such as 14 are secured to the member by welding and serve to position the member by driving into the shuttering. The tube is threaded to serve as a socket and such thread takes the grub screw which serves as a mask against the cement during pouring. The tube may be flanged and provided thereat with apertures for nails to pass through into the wood. In a modification shown in Fig. 5 a nut 18 is secured in an envelope 20 pressed from a metal blank, and in Fig. 7. a nut 23 is secured in a member 26 made from strip metal. In a further modification for self tapping screws the nut is dispensed with and a flanged aperture made in the sheet metal member.
