511,991. Kiers. STRAATMAN, J. F.,and NORTON & CO., Ltd., Sir J. F. April 7, 1938, No. 10632. [Class 15 (i)] A header or tank b is provided above a kier a for the wet treatment of textile materials to prevent the formation of steam in the kier, the pump c, by which the liquor is circulated through the kier and the heater d by means of which the liquor is heated, being located in a circuit as shown with the pump between the header and the kier. The tank b is open to atmosphere if the kier is to be under atmospheric pressure. A bye-pass f across the pump c may be provided to control the rate of delivery of liquor from the pump to the kier. Hot liquor is delivered' by the pump c to the top of the kier through the pipe e.
