Abstract

511,510. Centrifugal dust separators. DANZ, H. O. Feb. 18, 1938, No. 5114. Convention date, June 4, 1937. [Class 23] [Also n Group XIII] ' Dust-laden hot gases such as flue gases from a boiler 1, Fig. 1, are passed through a dust separator 3, which also serves to heat the air supplied to the boiler furnace through a pipe 26, and the separated dust and entrained gases are then passed through a second separator 14, from which the dust free gases may be returned by a fan 21 through a pipe 22 to the inlet side of the primary separator. In the primary separator the gases are directed through a number of spaced tubes 4, Fig. 2, containing helical partitions 6, and the dust thrown centrifugally on to the interior of the tubes pass over deflections 7 to a hopper 9 while the dustfree gases pass through tubes 10 projecting into the tubes 4 and opening into outlet flue 11. Dust and entrained gases pass from the hopper through a scroll in the second separator 14 having a dust-collecting chamber 17. The air supplied to the boiler furnace flows around the tubes 4 in the primary separator.
