Abstract
510,529. Film gates for kinematograph &c. apparatus. KOLB, O. K. Feb. 2, 1938, No. 3183. [Class 97 (i)] A guiding device for kinematograph or sound films at the exposure position is curved longitudinally, and comprises one fixed edge guide 1 having a face 1a at right angles to the face of the film, and one movable edge guide 3 having a face 3b at an acute angle to the face of the film. The guide 1 may be formed with a face 1b engaging the film margin and with an inclined face 1c; a groove 1d may be formed between the faces 1a, 1b. The guide 3 may be similarly formed with faces 3c, 3d, and both guides may have receding or convex faces to facilitate film threading. The movable guide may be spring- pressed and be connected to a handle, lever, thumb piece &c. The sound track 2a of the film may be adjacent the guide 1. The guides may provide an open space at the actual exposure position across which the film passes freely.
