Abstract

510,029. Endless-chain conveyers; escalators. BAKER, W. S. G., and LONDON PASSENGER TRANSPORT BOARD. March 25, 1938, No. 9118. [Class 78 (i)] In a moving platform each tread is connected to a driving chain by triangulated linkage capable of allowing the effective axes by which each tread is connected to the chain, and about which it may swing to a limited extent, to approach and recede as required when the chain is running round the end pulleys. The leading edge of each tread 7 is connected by brackets 13 to an axle 14 extending between the driving chains 8. The following edge is connected by links 16 to the leading edge of side flanges 15 depending from the adjacent tread. The edges of the treads are prevented from fouling each other by chamfering the leading edge 11<1>. Any litter which may fall between adjacent treads is caught in a trough 22.
