[Class 146 (i)] A loose-leaf binder comprises bars 18 provided with leaf-engaging posts 19 and with pins adapted to be received in sockets in clamping- bars 4 hinged to covers 1, 2 and drawn together by flexible binding-members 13; the posts 19 and pins being so disposed that the rear edges of the sheets and the post bars 18 lie entirely in front of the parts of the members 13 extending between the clamping-bars 4. Each clamping- bar 4 comprises a non-metallic part 5 and an inner metal plate 6. Recesses 8 in the part 5 accommodate members 9 carrying hinge pins 11, situated towards the rear edges of the bars 4, for plates 10 to which the covers 1, 2 are attached, the plates 10 being offset at 12 so as to be secured to the inside surfaces of the covers. Slots 7 are provided in the plates 6 near their rear edges to receive the members 13 which pass through the recesses 8. Some of the pins are situated near the inner edges and some near the outer edges of the bars 18 thus tending to prevent rocking of the bars.. The posts 19 are situated near the inner edges of the bars 18. Beaded edges 21 on the hinge members 9 support the members 13 and ensure a clamping- stress on the inner edges of the clamping-bars. The posts 19 may be replaced by telescopic posts.
