Abstract
506,260. Drying grass on rotary tables. HARDING, L. Nov. 20, 1937, No. 25428. [Class 34 (ii)] Wet grass or other fodder crop is dried on a rotatable perforated table 10 divided by radial vanes 25 into segmental pockets closed at the top by a stationary circular plate 27, each pocket in turn being brought between inlet and outlet hoods 28, where gas at about 250‹ C. is passed through the grass by a suction fan 45. The hot gas then passes under the table and rises through the grass to an arcuate conduit 43 connected to the inlet hood for recirculation. Flanges 36, 37 on the table 10 dip into liquid in troughs 38, 39 to prevent escape of gas. An upturned flange or a roller at the leading edge of the plate 27 compresses grass loaded at 18, the grass being unloaded at 17. The entering hot gas may pass first down and then up through the adjacent grass in the same sector before passing under the table.
