Abstract

506,146. Radiators for aircraft engines. BELAIEFF, J. F., DELANEY, C. T., and GALLAY, Ltd. Nov. 1, 1938, No. 31553. [Class 64(iii)] [Also in Group XXXIII] A radiator for aircraft engines comprises cooling units d arranged in V-form within an aerofoil having air inlet and outlet openings b, c respectively. The inlet is so placed that the flow of air through the aerofoil is a maximum when the aircraft is climbing, The air issuing from the outlet may be used to assist propulsion, and a variable flap may be provided at the rear of the aerofoil to assist climbing. In a modification, the cooling units are of curved form. In another arrangement, units are disposed as shown in Fig. 2. Further, a single unit or limb of the V-form may be used.
