Abstract

505,405. Directive wireless systems. LORENZ AKT.-GES., C. June 2, 1938, No. 16527. Convention date, June 2, 1937. [Class 40 (v)] If the site error in a rotary frame or gonio. meter direction-finder is asymmetric, the two minima of the figure-eight pick-up characteristic may not be exactly displaced by 180‹; according to the invention in such a 'system two opposite indications corresponding to the direction of the transmitter and the opposite direction are provided; each being automatically compensated for site error. As shown in the Figure, the two indicators 5, 6 are rotated with the hand wheel 1 by means of the rods 11, 13 which are slidable in the guides 14-17 mounted on the casing 2 connected to the hand wheel 1, and the reading of the indicators is corrected by the movement of the rods 10 and 12 against the fixed cam 7. In order to avoid a further rotation of the frame aerial or goniometer coil in the determination of the sense, an auxiliary frame or coil is provided in a known manner at rightangles to the main frame or coil and is connected to the receiver and coupled in phase and in counterphase with an open aerial by means of the sense switch. The two positions of the sense switch and the two indicators are given corresponding colour markings and the position of the sense switch giving minimum sound shows which of the two indicators gives the required bearing.
