Abstract
504,518. Recording-apparatus. LEPETIT, A. E. M. June 24, 1938, No. 18827. [Class 106 (iv)] [Also in Group XX] A sextant or like instrument for measuring the altitude of stars is provided with a device which records the angles measured and the times at which the measurements are made As shown, a sextant as described in French Specification 613,871, and British Specification 465,583 is provided with a record sheet 67 which is drawn from a spool 68 by clockwork driven sprockets 71. The record is made by a helical rib 51 on a cylinder 50 rotatably mounted in a frame 55 and geared at 53, 54 to the spindle 10<1> by which the index mirror of the sextant is set. The frame 55 oscillates on the axis XIX<1>1 and is centralized by a spring 66. After each observation the plunger 39 is operated causing the pencil 32 to mark the disc 12 and rocking the lever 56. The latter moves a sliding frame 61 having a pawl 62 engaging a projection 64 on the frame 55 which then rocks to move the cylinder away from the record sheet 67 until the projection 64 escapes the pawl 62 and the spring 66 swings the cylinder 50 into contact with the record sheet.
