Abstract

503,785. Bricks. GRICE, W. S. Oct. 13, 1937, No. 27841. [Class 87 (i)] A rhomboidal brick has long and short sides L, S related by the expression L = 2S + B where B is the thickness of bonding between adjacent bricks. The angle alpha of the brick is given by the expression cos alpha = S+B/L. A recess 4 to receive bonding material and reinforcement may be provided in one or both long sides and frogs 8 may be provided on the upper and lower faces. Triangular bricks may be provided for use with the rhomboidal bricks at corners and are so shaped that when two are laid together with a thickness B of bonding material they form a rhomb identical with that formed by two rhomboidal bricks laid together. Alternatively a quadrilateral brick may be provided having sides CS<1> and CS<2> equal to D and D - S - B where D is the perpendicular distance between the short sides of a rhomboidal brick, the angles being as shown. In a modification, three sides are at right-angles and the fourth inclined at an angle alpha.
