Abstract
503,555. Television. BLUMLEIN, A. D. Oct. 14, 1937, No. 27929. [Class 40 (iii)] In addition to the normal movements of a scanning spot, a further component of motion is so imparted that the spot oscillates about the axis 4, 5, 6 of a scanning line 1, 2, 3 and thus increases the detail of the transmitted image. Synchronizing signals are transmitted to synchronize the oscillations of the reproducing spot with those of the spot at the transmitter. The signals are transmitted on a sub-carrier or as phase or frequency modulations of the vision signals. In the latter case, the synchronizing signals are derived at the receiver by an amplitude limiter, followed by a resonant circuit, sharply tuned off the carrier frequency, and a demodulator. The diameter of the spot is less than the width of the line effectively scanned and the amplitude of the oscillations is one half the distance between the axes of the lines. The oscillation is effected by superimposing sinusoidal or other oscillations on the framefrequency oscillations. When interlaced scanning is used, the amplitude of the additional oscillation is between two-thirds and one-and a-half times the distance between the axes of the lines.
