Abstract

503,373. Consolidating concrete by vibration. STOTHERT & PITT, Ltd., and FRANKLIN, E. S. April 28, 1938, No. 12777. [Class 107] A vibratory smoothing-machine for Concrete and like surfaces comprises a vibrating beam 1 having a series of operative surfaces 4, Fig. 2, arranged in step-like formation. These surfaces may be horizontal or they may be inclined so that they face towards the rear end of the machine. The beam shown is attached to a bar 19 which is elastically supported on sleeves 13. The latter are mounted on four guideposts 10 and can be adjusted vertically by a screw-and-nut device 15, 16, the screw of which is geared to a shaft carrying a hand wheel. Vibration is effected by eccentrically mounted pulleys mounted on the beam and driven by an engine 8 which also drives the road wheels 7.
