Abstract

502,469. Gravity-separation apparatus. GEIGER, H. Oct. 10, 1938, No. 29362. [Class 111] The rotary bridge 2 supporting a sludge remover in a circular settling-tank is driven by mechanism which includes a rack 4<1> on the periphery of the tank and a pinion 7 mounted on the bridge so as to be displaceable to permit uniform meshing with the rack. As shown the rack is on the side of a peripheral rail 4 on which travel wheels 3, supporting the outer end of the bridge. The pinion 7, reduction gear 6 and an electric motor 5 are all mounted on an arm 10 turning about a vertical pivot 8. Rollers 9, 9<1> engaging either side of the rail 4 keep the pinion in uniform engagement with the rack.
