Abstract

502,142. Alloys. MAIER, R. June 8, 1937, No. 11609/38. Divided out of and addition to 498,921 under which a Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Dec. 9, 1937. [Classes 82 (i) and 86] [Also in Group III] Alloys or mixtures are produced by vaporizing or gasefying a metal, alloy, compound or other solid mineral substance difficult to vaporize, by the method claimed in the parent Specification, and mixing or combining the vaporized or gasefied substance with another constituent or constituents in or during transfer to a settling chamber, the said substance, if not in the pure gaseous state, being completely gasefied either during transfer to or in the settling chamber, the reaction or mixing taking place when such substance is in the gaseous state. When the substance gasefied comprises a mixture, one or more constituents thereof may be condensed in an ante-chamber before the gas enters the. settling chamber. The material to be mixed or combined with the gasefied substance may be a substance which is normally gaseous, in which case it may be continuously circulated in the settling chamber, or it may be another substance gasefied in accordance with the parent Specification. In the latter case, the gasefied substances may be separately conducted to the settling chamber ; or, they may be mixed on or before entering the chamber in which case they may be subjected to an electric arc or other discharge. The different substances may be introduced into separate parts of the installa tion, individually or in groups and a gas, inert or otherwise, may be circulated throughout the whole or.greater part of the installation. For rapid precipitation, the settling chamber may be in the form of a cyclone separator. Two or more settling chambers may be employed. Specification 502,141 is referred to.
