[Classes 79 (ii), 79 (iii), and 79 (iv)] A central longitudinal tubular girder frame f for motor vehicles with driven swinging half axles, which in the region of the axles is provided with eyes 3, 4 for the reception of the axle driving means, is characterized by the feature that the eyes are provided with windows or openings 5, in such a manner as to enable casings 6 containing the fully assembled driving means to be placed in the eyes, where they may be secured by screws inserted into lugs 7 welded on to the outside walls of the eyes. As shown, the engine 9 and gearbox 10 are mounted above the eye 3 and the drive is transmitted through an intermediate gear box 11 seated in a horizontal eye or opening in the girder member with shafts 15, 16 leading, therefrom to the front and rear axles
