Abstract
500,557. Heating by chemical action. NOMA, Inc. Aug. 10, 1937, No. 22002. Convention date, Aug. 14, 1936. [Class 64 (ii)] In a hair-waving device with chemical heating, a semicylindrical aluminium shell 10 which is rigid but bendable, is formed with bendable extensions 13 to retain a chemical heating pad 14 and a retainer 15. The pad 14 may be of absorbent paper enclosing powdered exothermic material, and the retainer 15 may:be a perforated aluminium plate. Longitudinal displacement of the parts is prevented by flanges 12. In use, the pad 14 is moistened and the device bent around the preformed tress. The pad 14 and plate 15 may be combined as a single refill element, except that the pad is enclosed in metallic foil which is perforated on the face remote from the shell 10.
