Abstract
499,232. Resilient supports. SILENTBLOC, Ltd., and JELLEY, S. W. Nov. 2, 1937, No. 29948. [Class 108 (iii)] A flexible support comprises a tubular outer member and an inner member of circular cross-section, the outer surface of the inner member and the inner surface of the outer member being shaped to provide between them an annular space, the radial width of which decreases from an intermediate portion towards its ends, and a ring of rubber of approximately circular cross-section in its undistorted state is disposed in the intermediate portion of the annular space and is somewhat radially compressed between the surfaces of the inner and outer members. As shown a rubber ring E which is circular in section in its undistorted state is interposed between an outer casing comprising a tube D flanged at D<1> and a sleeve D<2> flanged at D<3>, and an inner waisted-member A secured by a bolt B to a movable part C. The tube D may be secured to a fixed part F by a flange D<4>. The flange D<3> forms a limiting abutment for movement in the upward direction of the inner member A. The rubber ring tends to roll in the annular space. If desired, the part A may be fixed and the tube D movable.
