Abstract

496,014. Acrobatic toys. JOHNSON, J. Jan. 22, 1938, No. 2137. [Class 132 (iii)] An acrobatic figure having loosely pivoted limbs is attached by a twisted cord to two holders, supported by a cross-piece, so that on pressing their further ends together, the other ends tend to separate and so untwist the cord, thus actuating the figure, characterized in that the feet of the figure are recessed at toe and heel so that they will engage with the cords. The figure is suspended by the arms 24 from two flexible cords 20, 21 once twisted in normal position, between two side holders 10, 11. One holder 10 is securely fixed to a block 12, the other 11 being pivoted about a pin 13. The arms 24 and legs 25 are pivoted to the body, distance pieces 28 enabling the legs 25 to swing outside the arms 24, separated also by a piece 31. Squeezing the holders 10, 11 causes the cords to untwist and the figure performs variously by engaging the toes 32 or heels 33 with the cords. The hat 34 may be hinged to the figure's head and means 22 for tensioning the cords may be provided. The toy may alternatively be actuated mechanically.
