Abstract
Particles suspended in a water solution of a titanium fluoride salt, e.g. a solution obtained by leaching the reaction product of a titanium ore with excess of ammonium fluoride as described in Specification 456,058, are removed by agitation of the solution with a small amount of a stable flocculent titanium compound precipitate. The precipitate may be formed in situ by adding to the solution sodium phosphate, sodium hydroxide, sodium carbonate, or potassium hydroxide, with previous precipitation of iron by the process described in Specification 456,314 except when sodium phosphate is used. In a modification, the solution may be passed through a layer of the stable flocculent titanium compound precipitate to remove suspended particles.
