Abstract

<PICT:0494599/III/1> In a feedwater heater and de-aerator, the water flows downwards through a number of horizontal perforated trays 4a between which steam entering below the tray flows inwardly to a central passage 5 communicating with a steam and gas outlet 6. Baffles 9 in the central passage restrict the steam flow between the lower trays. In a modification, the trays are arranged in a horizontal cylindrical casing, and the air and gases flow from the central passage between the trays to a horizontal perforated escape pipe at the centre of the casing.
