Abstract
494,499. Fusible cut-outs. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. May 3, 1938, No. 13214. Convention date, May 4, 1937. [Class 38, (i)] By the addition of a suitable substance the beads formed by the element fusing and sintering with the filling medium are rendered less resistant at first, the proportion of the substance then diminishing as the process continues so as to increase the resistance. The additional substance may be potassium silicate, aluminium oxide or an iron compound and it may be applied as a coating to the grains of the filler or to the fuse element itself. A conductor parallel to the fuse element and composed of iron may serve to furnish the additional substance.
