Abstract
494,480. Glass manufacture'; moulding synthetic resins ; reflectors. ALTMANN, H. Feb. 14, 1938, No. 4593. Convention date, Feb. 13, 1937. [Class 56] [Also in Groups V and XX] A built-up mould, for use in making reflectors from glass or artificial resin, comprises a number of moulding-units each having an hexagonal cross-section and provided with six moulding- faces a, Fig. 1, which converge towards the longitudinal axis of the unit. The apex d of the unit may be cut off at right-angles to its longitudinal axis to form a flat surface b which forms on the reflector a "window" through which light can pass, thus enabling the reflector to be used as the glass of a rear lamp of a vehicle. At least one bf the units can be fitted with a sliding plunger e, Fig. 3, the top of which constitutes the window-forming area b. The plunger is used to remove the finished article from the mould. The hexagons may be of various dimensions to form faces a of different sizes, and the faces may converge to an edge instead of the point d. Specification 269,760, [Class 56], is referred to.
