Abstract
494,136. Internally - fired hot - water boilers; vertical steam boilers. PAUER, L. G. March 2, 1938, No. 6525. Convention date, March 4, 1937. [Classes 64 (i) and 123 (ii)] A hot-water or steam boiler comprises two or more concentric water-containing jackets A, B, C of which the innermost B forms a vat-shaped combustion chamber and has its bottom spaced above the boiler bed-plate H, which has a flue discharge opening K concentric with the boiler so that flue gas flows evenly down between the jackets to discharge. The outer jacket A may be bell-shaped or cylindrical with a top plate U, and a central fuel feeding aperture F is provided. The jackets are interconnected at top and bottom by water tubes R, S, and apertures D, E for stoking and the ash-pit are provided. A central fuel hopper Z may be provided with a water jacket formed by an extension of the outer jacket, and secondary air is supplied by tubes X from the ash-pit. The top of the outer jacket may be enlarged to form a water and steam space. The central jacket B carries a grate G and its bottom may be formed by an imperforate metal plate.
