[Class 40 (iv)] [Also in Group XL] In a separator for filtering the carrier frequencies assigned to three or more transmitters or receivers S1, S2, S3, the cut-off frequencies determined by the attenuation characteristics of a low-pass filter F1, a highpass filter F3, and one or more band-pass filters such as F2, instead of coinciding with the limits of the appropriate side-bands, coincide with the carrier frequencies belonging to adjacent side-bands. Thus the attenuation characteristic of each filter has a wide pass band which overlaps the pass bands of adjacent filters, but undesired frequencies are excluded by the high value of the image impedances, which are arranged to be infinite at the cut-off frequencies. Correctors K1, K3 are added when necessary to ensure the latter result, and the impedances of the filters are matched to the apparatus S1, S2, S3 by networks N1, N2, N3. The arrangement has the advantage that the attenuation in the working pass range of each filter is lower than it would be if the pass bands determined by the attenuation constants were narrowed to coincide with the signal side-bands.
