Abstract

493,698. Cooling gearing. HATCHER, E. C. March 11, 1937, No. 7155. [Class 80 (i)] A gear casing a having exterior fins b, c and containing lubricant, is provided with a removable jacket d which is supported by the fins and by distance pieces. The jacket is open at one end and is extended at the opposite end to enclose a fan g by which a current of air is maintained through chambers between the fins. The jacket may be open at one side or entirely closed and provided with air inlet openings. The fins may be curved to direct the air from two sides and the top of the casing into a passageway aligned with the bottom of the casing.
