[Class 94 (i)] Comprises special means for starting and stopping the deliverymechanism associated with a hopper when hole low articles or containers to be filled therefrom are brought into register with and removed from the delivery opening. Fig. 2 shows a hopper 12 fitted with a vertical delivery worm and a stirrer driven by bevel gear 16 through a clutch 18. Fig. 3 shows a platform 54 over which the containers pass in succession and are adapted to be raised thereon to abut against the delivery opening during filling and to be subsequently lowered again and passed onwards. The platform 54 is raised by swinging the hand lever 30 which rotates toothed gearing 32, 33 and thus drives a chain 26 connected to the sliding stem 20 of the platform. The upward movement of the stem 20 moves the toggle 35, 38 to abut against the stop 44 and in so doing swings the lever 40 about the pivot 45 which movement is transmitted through the pivoted lever 19, Fig. 2, to engage the clutch and start the delivery-mechanism. As the platform is lowered by the increasing weight of the container, the toggles are reversed again by engagement of members 46, 47 and the clutch is disengaged. After this, the full downward movement is completed by the lever 30. The weight of the platform is balanced by a hanging weight 25. The lever 30 is fitted with a sliding spring catch 52 which retains it in tablelowered position unless positively operated.
