Abstract

492,312. Display stands; boxes. LEVER BROS., Ltd. (Fabian, E. K.) March 19, 1937, No. 8097. [Class 3 (ii)] [Also in Group XVII] A container for articles of merchandise comprises two superimposed boxes, the upper box being smaller in height than the lower box and being hinged along its lower edge to a flap hinged to the bottom of the container, the width of the flap between the two hinges being substantially equal to the height of the front wall of the lower box, the arrangement being such that the upper box may be lowered by an angular movement from the top of the lower box and placed in front of the latter to form a display stand in which the boxes are arranged stepwise. In the embodiment shown, the container comprises a box A cut away at its front upper part to accommodate a box B whose bottom is attached to a part c<2> of a flap C secured at c<4> to the box A. The device may be closed by the lid of the box A to form a container for storage purposes as in Fig. 1, or may be opened to form a stand as in Fig. 4.
